"John Wick: Chapter 2" is a 2017 action thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves as the titular character, John Wick. It is the second installment in the John Wick film series and serves as a sequel to the 2014 film "John Wick."
In "John Wick: Chapter 2," the story continues shortly after the events of the first film. John Wick, a retired hitman, is forced to return to his violent past when an Italian crime lord named Santino D'Antonio (played by Riccardo Scamarcio) calls in a blood oath that John owes him. John is tasked with assassinating Santino's sister, Gianna (played by Claudia Gerini), who sits on the High Table, a council of powerful crime bosses.
John travels to Rome and successfully eliminates Gianna, but this act sets off a series of consequences. Santino double-crosses John, putting a bounty on his head and making him the target of every assassin in the city. As John fights his way through waves of skilled killers, he discovers a shadowy conspiracy and allies with a fellow assassin named Cassian (played by Common) who seeks revenge against John for killing Gianna.
Throughout the film, John encounters numerous dangerous adversaries, including Ares (played by Ruby Rose), Santino's mute bodyguard, and the deadly Bowery King (played by Laurence Fishburne), a powerful underworld figure. As the body count rises, John Wick's skills and determination are put to the ultimate test as he fights for survival and vengeance.
"John Wick: Chapter 2" received positive reviews from both critics and audiences for its intense action sequences, stylish direction, and Keanu Reeves' performance. The film's success led to the creation of additional sequels, with "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum" released in 2019 and "John Wick: Chapter 4" currently in development.
